Stress Management

What is Stress Management?

The Confederation of British Industry has estimated that absenteeism costs British Industry £10 billion a year.

What is Stress?

Stress occurs when pressure exceeds your perceived ability to cope.

This prepares the heart lungs and major muscle group for action, which is often referred to as the "fight or flight" response.

This psychological response includes the release of stress hormones adrenaline and norarenaline.

Fat and sugars are also released into the blood to provide energy, the back part of the brain closes down as do other internal organs like the gut, as they are not required in this mode.

This has a massive impact on our body and a large strain on our organs as we now, in Western society do not fight or flight therefore these chemicals keep raging around our body.

This leads to physical illness ranging from:

  • Blood pressure
  • Heart attack
  • Ulcers
  • Diabetes
  • Angina
  • Rheumatoid arthiritis
  • Cancer
  • Psychological disorders lead to breakdown

A small amount of stress in our lives is normal, it is when this exceeds what is perceived to be normal that our bodies start to react in negative ways.
You do not have to accept this as normal, if you explore what is causing the stress and identify the triggers, with the help and support of counselling or Life Coaching your life can become balanced.

We all need support in our lives at times our mental well-being is as important as, our physical well-being.
