The 5 Pillars

The TLC Five Pillars

Recovery is not created by addressing one symptom in isolation.

The TLC Five Pillars provide a structured way to understand what is really driving overwhelm, disconnection or burnout, so that recovery can be sustainable rather than temporary.

  1. Physical Wellbeing

The physical foundations of recovery — sleep, energy and the body’s signals of stress.

Recovery is not only a psychological process, it is also a physical one, and the body often carries signs of distress long before the mind is ready to acknowledge them. This pillar looks honestly at sleep, energy, physical tension and the day-to-day habits that either support recovery or quietly undermine it. For many people, the work here begins simply by noticing what the body has been trying to say, and building small, sustainable changes that restore a sense of physical steadiness.

  1. Mental Wellbeing

Understanding what is driving overwhelm, and building ways of thinking that genuinely ease it.

Burnout rarely arrives as a single, dramatic moment, it tends to build slowly, through persistent overwhelm, rumination and a mind that never quite switches off. This pillar addresses mental wellbeing directly, creating space to understand what has been driving that overwhelm and developing ways of thinking and coping that genuinely reduce it, rather than simply managing the symptoms until the next difficult week arrives.

  1. Emotional Regulation

Greater awareness of emotional triggers and more constructive responses to pressure and conflict.

How we respond to stress, conflict and disappointment shapes not only our own wellbeing, but the relationships closest to us. This pillar builds a clearer understanding of emotional triggers and patterns, often rooted much earlier than the present difficulty, so that the response to pressure becomes something a person chooses, rather than something that happens to them and to the people around them.

  1. Working Patterns

Replacing patterns that drive exhaustion with ways of working that are genuinely sustainable.

The way we work, whether in a career, a business or simply the daily demands of life, has a direct bearing on recovery. This pillar looks at the patterns that have built up over time, the ones that once felt necessary and now quietly drive exhaustion, and helps build working patterns that are sustainable rather than ones that simply get a person through to the next deadline.

  1. Boundaries

Rebuilding the ability to protect your own time, energy and wellbeing with clarity and confidence.

Many of the people in this work have spent years saying yes when they meant no, carrying responsibilities that were never truly theirs to carry, or struggling to protect their own time and energy from the demands of others. This pillar is about understanding where boundaries have eroded, why, and rebuilding them with clarity and confidence, so that protecting one’s own wellbeing stops feeling like a negotiation.

Together, the Five Pillars help you understand what is really driving the difficulty, not merely manage its most visible symptom.
